The film is set in 1923 in a cheap Tokyo boarding house. A bored tenant, Goda, roams through the attic, observing the weird lives of his fellow lodgers through holes in the ceiling. One day he sees a mysterious woman murder her lover. He decides that at least he has found his soul mate. But, to be worthy of her, he too must perform a meaningless act of violence.
Based on stories by the Japanese master of horror, Edogawa Rampo, the film features some of the most bizarre sex scenes ever, including the story of a man who hides inside a special chair, so that a naked woman can sit on him.
This is the first ever US release of a recognized classic of world horror cinema.
